Govt keeping a tab on GST implementation regularly, says Meghwal

Authorities are also monitoring the impact of GST on the prices of various commodities.

The government is keeping an eye on the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regularly, the Minister of State for Finance, Arjun Ram Meghwal, said at an event recently organised by the PHD Chamber in Delhi.

Moreover, the government is making sure to resolve all the teething issues on an immediate basis, a PTI report said.

Commenting on the technical issues with regard to tax payment which recently come to light, Meghwal added that the GST Network (GSTN) was asked to fix them. Authorities, as per the report, are also monitoring the impact of GST on the prices of various commodities, thanks to a team of 180 officials and 30 ministers (which is on the job).

“They are getting feedback from various districts and towns and trying to assess what kind of procedural difficulties businesses are facing. Procedural issues are sorted out by tax authorities as and when they arise,” the minister was quoted as saying.

On GDP growth, he said manufacturing was hit in June because of destocking in light of GST implementation from July 1.
