GST collections hit Rs 94,000 crore for July

About six lakh more businesses filed their returns and paid taxes in last the one week.

The revenue collection from GST has mounted to Rs 94,700 crore for July month. 
 
About six lakh more businesses filed their returns and paid taxes in last the one week.
 
Till last week 38.38 lakh businesses had filed their returns and paid Rs 92,283 crore in taxes for the month of July.
 
An official told PTI, the government bagged Rs 2,500 crore more from these six businesses as taxes.
 
Now, the total percentage of taxpayers filing their returns reaches to 74 per cent. 
 
The government expects more people to come in when the final returns are filed in GSTR 1, 2 and 3.
 
Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia said 11 lakh businesses have not yet completed registration for the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
 
He said 72.5 lakh people have migrated into the GST regime but only 44 lakh have so far filed returns.
