Foreign funds have sold stocks worth a net $2.66 billion between August 1 and the third week of September.

The pull out is highest as against other major emerging market that discloses portfolio flows during that period.

AS per a Bloomberg-ETIG data, the outflows exceeded those from emerging markets like South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia and South Africa.

Brazil, however, has bounced back, with investment of $2.17 billion in the same period.

The Nifty and Sensex gained 21.9 per cent and 20 per cent so far this year, and is considered among the best-performing emerging market indices.

However, as per experts, foreign investors may continue to sell stocks and may allocate funds to other emerging markets in the days to come.
