CBEC seeks reports of assessees to boost GST collection

The collections were over Rs 92,000 crore in September, while it fell to Rs 83,346 crore in the following month.

The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has asked for reports of assessees, with a special focus on the top taxpayers, an ET report said. 
 
The government is concerned with the contraction in the GST revenue collection.

ET report says it has seen the letter sent by CBEC directing field officials to analyse GST collections in detail.
 
Finance secretary Hasmukh Adhia is set to review the revenue collection with  senior officials in the department on December 9, it said.
 
The CBEC letter says field officers have been asked prepare detailed report of top 100 taxpayers in their jurisdiction.
 
These officials have been authorised to contact the assessees personally or even visit their premises.
