The deadline was earlier extended from September 30 to December 31.
The government may allow use of stickers to display revised MRP on unsold pre-GST stocks till March 2018, as per an ET report.
"The department of consumer affairs will most likely extend it, and will issue a directive next week," the government official was quoted as saying.
Notably, the deadline was earlier extended from September 30 to December 31. Due to recent changes in GST rates, there were issues related to goods carrying old prices printed on them.
Also, the official added that from April 1 onward, there is no need for manufacturers to display details of GST on packaged commodities. They will need to display only the revised MRP.
"To bring equity between pre and post GST period it is necessary that remaining period of current fiscal year should be granted to liquidate the stocks," ET quoted Praveen Khandelwal, secretary general of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), as saying.
In November, CAIT had asked consumer affairs, food and public distribution minister Ram Vilas Paswan, to extend the last date till March 31, 2018.
