So far 27 states/union territories have launched the e-way bill system for intra-state movement of goods.

The e-way bill system, which was rolled out from April 1, will enable movement of goods worth over Rs 50,000 within the state.

“On an average 12 lakh e-way bills are being generated every day,” the ministry said in a statement last week.

The implementation of the nationwide e-way bill mechanism under GST regime was done by GST Network (GSTN) in association with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and is run on portal https://ewaybillgst.gov.in.

E-way bill can be generated through web (online) or Android app or SMS or using bulk upload tool or API based site to site integration, etc.

The transporters can also generate a consolidated e-way bill for vehicle carrying multiple consignments.

The transporters can create multiple sub-users and allocate roles to them. For this purpose, they can declare their various offices as sub-users.
