Fiscal deficit reaches 115% of Budget estimate in first 8 months of 2018-19

According to an official report, total expenditure incurred by Government of India is Rs 16,13,208 crore, which amounts to 66.06 per cent of the corresponding BE 18-19.

The fiscal deficit has touched 114.8 per cent of the Budget estimate (BE) in the first eight months of the current fiscal. 
 
For 2018-19, the Government of India set about ₹6.24 lakh crore, which is 3.3 per cent of the GDP.
 
However, the Finance Ministry seems optimistic on limiting the deficit to the targeted estimate. 
 
As per an official, as quoted by Businessline report, revenue picks up only during the second half of the fiscal. Since there are four months left, revenue generated in this period will fill the gap between earning and expenditure.
 
According to an official report, total expenditure incurred by Government of India is Rs 16,13,208 crore, which amounts to 66.06 per cent of the corresponding BE 18-19.
 
About Rs 14,21,778 crore is on revenue account and Rs 1,91,430 crore is on capital account. Out of the total revenue expenditure, Rs 3,48,233 crore is on account of interest payments and Rs 2,19,046 crore is on account of major subsidies.
