September GST collections hit a rock bottom at Rs 91,916 crore, the lowest in 19 months

The government's goods and services tax collections for the month of September went down to their lowest in 19 months.
The September, 2019 GST collections stood at Rs 91,916 crore. The last record low was in February 2018 when the GST revenue was at Rs 85,174 crore. In September, 2018, collections were at Rs 94,442 crore.
“The revenue during September, 2019 is declined by 2.67 per cent in comparison to the revenue during September, 2018,” a PIB release noted.
“The total gross GST revenue collected in the month of September, 2019 is Rs. 91,916 crore of which CGST is Rs. 16,630 crore, SGST is Rs. 22,598 crore, IGST is Rs. 45,069 crore (including Rs. 22,097 crore collected on imports) and cess is Rs. 7,620 crore (including Rs. 728 crore collected on imports),” the Finance Ministry said in a release.
The total number of monthly summary returns for the month of August up to 30th September is 75.94 lakh. The government has transferred Rs. 21,131 crore to Central-GST (CGST) and Rs. 15,121 crore to State-GST (SGST) from Integrated-GST (IGST) as regular settlement.
According to a TOI report, the government is expecting a shortfall of around Rs 40,000 cr of what has been budgeted for 2019-20.
